Scriptures: John 11: 1-5

I. HUMBLE BEGINNINGS:
• Dedicate: To set apart items or people for God’s special use.

II. DEDICATION OF THE TABERNACLE IN THE WILDERNESS (NUMBERS 7):
• Portable structure for worship
• “Tent of meeting” - where God’s presence resided
• Moses anointed the Tabernacle and dedicated it for God’s use
• God spoke to Moses from between the two Cherubim

III. DEDICATION OF SOLOMON’S TEMPLE (I KINGS 8/II CHRONICLES 5-7):
• The Temple was incredibly lavish
• The Priests carried the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant into the Most Holy Place
• The majesty of the Temple was due to the presence of Almighty God

IV. MARY, MARTHA, AND LAZARUS’ HOUSE (LUKE 10/JOHN 11):
• A home where Jesus felt welcome
• Jesus had no place to call home:
o “Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place even to lay his head.” (Matt. 8:20, NLT)

V. A HOUSE OF HONOR
• Dedication looks back to what God has done
• Dedication looks forward to God’s abiding presence
• God’s presence makes a house a home where Jesus feels welcome
