1. THE POWER OF MY WORDS

1) My words produce either death or life.
The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences. Proverbs 18:21

2) My words reveal the condition of my heart  Matthew 12:34-35
“You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For whatever is in your heart determines what you say. A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart.” 

3) My words will serve as evidence at the judgment Matthew 12:36-37
Jesus gives us this very sobering truth: “And I tell you this; you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.” 

2. THE PERVERSION OF MY WORDS
1) My words are naturally sinful


James 3:6
And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself. 

2) My words are naturally uncontrollable

James 3:7-8
People can tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and fish, but no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison.

James 1:19
Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

3) My words are naturally hypocritical

James 3:9-10
Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God. And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right.

3. THE POTENTIAL OF MY WORDS

1) I can bless others

A blessing is a pronunciation which imparts spiritual power, opening the way for us in life, giving us approval and confidence, and power for us to succeed; it is grace to enable us to become what we are meant to become, and to achieve to achieve what we are meant to achieve.

It is said that 85% of what a person thinks about themselves comes form their father.

When God the Father spoke of His Son He said “This is my son” – affirmation and identity.
“With Him I am well pleased” – approval.
The orphan heart causes them to struggle with issues of fear, insecurity, and low self-worth.

2) Abrahams Blessing

Gen. 12:2-3
"I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you."

Romans 9: 6-8
It is not as though God's word had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham's children. On the contrary, "It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned."In other words, it is not the natural children who are God's children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham's offspring.

Gal. 3:14
He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.

Gen. 28:3-4
 May God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and increase your numbers until you become a community of peoples. ---- May he give you and your descendants the blessing given to Abraham, so that you may take possession of the land where you now live as an alien, the land God gave to Abraham."

Gen 1:28
God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill (replenish) the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

Prov. 10:22 The blessing of the LORD brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it.
We despise the inheritance by rejecting spiritual leaders; dishonoring spiritual fathers; or think little of pastoral vision or his hearts cry.

The Lord smiles upon the principle and practice of honor.
              
3) Blessings are to be commanded

Ps. 133:3 for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

We give blessing, we release blessing, we bestow blessing by command.

 “The 4:8 Principle” by Tommy Newberry. He says the Phil. 4:8 passage should be foundational to our thinking and speaking.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.

What am I thankful for?
What are my strengths and weaknesses?
What are my best achievements?
Who are the people that love me most?
What am I looking forward to in days ahead?
