Revelation 2:8-11

SMYRNA WAS A POLITICAL AND RELIGIOUS ALLY TO ROME

A MAN NAMED POLYCARP PASTORED THE CHURCH OF SMYRNA

FAITH IS THE STABILIZER OF OUR RELATIONSHIP

I. Faith’s FOUNDATION is the RESURRECTION.
* He is the FIRST and LAST.
Isaiah 44:6, 9:6
* Jesus was DEAD and is ALIVE.
Rom 10:7-13

II. Faith’s POWER overcomes OPPOSITION.
The church knew they could face suffering, poverty, slander, fear, PRISON, or DEATH.

III. Faith’s REWARD gives us HOPE.

Three promises:
A. A CROWN on our heads.
B. An ETERNITY to enjoy.
C. A PURPOSE to fulfill.
