“THE CHURCH AS GOD INTENDED” IN GOD’S PLAN
Matthew 16:13-19 1/4/09 Am

1. GOD’S PLAN FOR HIS CHURCH INVOLVES A TRANSFORMED MEMBERSHIP

Simon Peter said two glorious things about Jesus:
1) As to His work, he said Jesus is the anointed Messiah;
2) As to His person, Peter said that Jesus is God come in the flesh.

2. GOD’S PLAN FOR HIS CHURCH INVOLVES A DYNAMIC RELATIONSHIP TO CHRIST.

> The church is built on Christ.
(1 Pet. 2:4-6) (1 Cor. 3:11) (1 Pet. 2:5).

> Second truth, the church is built by Christ.
John 15:16a

> Third truth, the church is successful only through Jesus' power.
Matthew 16:18

Faith is the confidence, the assurance, the belief in God and His power. Matthew 17:20b
“Dream so big, that if God does not come through you’ll look like a fool.”
