1 John 1:6-710/9/11 Pm
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Over the next few Sunday evenings together we will be exposing several misconceptions that man has toward their own sin and how they may interact with the presence of God. A. MAN CAN FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD AND STILL WALK IN SIN. B. MAN IS NOT TOTALLY SINFUL AND DEPRAVED. C. MAN CAN BECOME RIGHTEOUS AND SINLESS ON HIS OWN.
The first misconception we will look at is the idea that:

A. Man can fellowship with God and still walk in sin.

John will break his argument down into two parts.

1. TRUE FELLOWSHIP AND DARKNESS DON’T MIX (6)

Prov. 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

Jer. 17:9-10 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? 10 "I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward a man according to his conduct, according to what his deeds deserve."

John 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

Prov. 4:19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

2.    TRUE FELLOWSHIP IS DONE IN THE LIGHT (7)

3.    But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

Acts 5:15 Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

1. The blood continually cleanses us from sin.
2. If we walk in the light His blood will always cleanse us from sin.
3. If we walk in the light we will continually confess our sin, and live in open confession before Him.

In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path, by shining His light on the right way.

Eph.1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Rev. 1:5 Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

1 Peter 1:18-19 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

1 Cor. 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

2Cor. 2:14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

2Cor. 8:16 But thanks be to God, which put the same earnest care into the heart of Titus for you.
