THE LOVE OF GOD
1John 3:1-3 1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. 2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. 

Have We Experienced God’s Incredible Love.

1. THE PRIVILEGE OF GOD’S LOVE- Children of god.  1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

A. The love of God has bestowed this privilege of adoption on us.

Rom. 5:6  For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.                                                                                                                                

Rom. 5:9-10 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 

B. The World Does Not Understand Believers.                                  

2. THE GREAT HOPE & MYSTERY OF GOD’S LOVE- Eternal transformation.

2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

John 3:19  And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

John 1:9  That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

1Cor. 15:49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

Phil. 3:21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.                                                        
And several changes are promised to us:                                                          

1.The body will be incorruptible.

1 Cor. 15:42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:

2. The body will be a body of resurrected glory.

1 Cor. 15:43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:                                                                                             glory  to be full of perfect light; to dwell in the perfect light, brilliance, splendor, luster, dignity, majesty and the grace of God Himself.

3.The body will be a body of power.

1 Cor. 15:43 … it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:                                                                                

 THE INCENTIVE OF GOD’S LOVE- Purity

3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.                                                                                                    

Matt. 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

2 Cor. 7:1Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
