“My God My God why have you forsaken me?

Expressed THE ISOLATION OF THE CROSS

1. Jesus was FORSAKEN so I could be ACCEPTED. 2 Corinthians 5:21
2. Jesus died in DARKNESS so I can live in His LIGHT.

THE AGONY OF THE CROSS
1. Jesus precisely FULFILLED ancient PROPHESIES on the cross. John 19:28
These are DETAILS that could not have just RANDOMLY happened.

2. Jesus endured the TORTURE of hell so we can enjoy the TREASURES of heaven.

1. FELLOWSHIP COMMANDED

We are to love others as Jesus loves us (v. 34)

Our love for others indicates our love for God (v. 35)

Jesus demonstrated love for three basic reasons:
He Had Nothing to Prove
He Had Nothing to Lose
He Had Nothing to Hide

2. FELLOWSHIP TESTED

In John 15 we find Four Tests of Friendship:
Test 1: Friends Do for each other
Test 2: Friends Share with each other
Test 3: Friends Love the same things

3. FELLOWSHIP PRACTICED

1. At Our Church God comes First
2. At Our Church People come before Programs
3. At Our Church Community is Central

WORDS OF GRACE

1. Jesus defined grace when He prayed for those who crucified Him.

Grace is something we all need but don’t deserve.
Grace and mercy are two sides of the same coin.

Grace is God giving me what I need but don’t deserve. (Unconditional love and forgiveness)

Mercy is God withholding what I do deserve. (Death hell)

2. Jesus displayed grace when He took care of His Mother

Jesus cares during the most painful experiences of my life.

3. Jesus demonstrated grace when He restored John at the cross

At the last supper Jesus declared three prophesies
1. He predicted one of the disciples (Judas) would betray Him.
2. Jesus said that all the disciples would run away from Him in His hour of need.
3. Peter before the rooster crows tomorrow you will deny me three times.

John went from leaning on Jesus to leaving Jesus.
