3 As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?" 4 And Jesus answered and said to them, "See to it that no one misleads you. 5 "For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will mislead many. 6 "You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. 7 "For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. 8 "But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs. 9 "Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name. 10 "At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another. 11 "Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many. 12 "Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold. 13 "But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved. 14 "This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.

Has my love grown brighter, softer more daring, and more visible?

Matthew 24:12 "Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold.

1. The “Trojan Horse” of Un-forgiveness

Love is a passion for oneness.

Bitterness on the other hand is characterized by a lack of love.

Where there is persistent and hardened un-forgiveness the demonic world has unhindered access.

Heb. 12:15 See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.

Jesus said love your enemies…

2. The Measure of Love

Matthew 18:7 Woe to the world because of offenses. For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes.

People do not stumble over boulders, but over stones, little things.

1 John 4:20 If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For the person who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen.

Love is a compassion that is empowered by the Holy Spirit to see God’s best come forth in the one I love.

The people who possess the Kingdom of God in it’s reality are people who overcome others faults.

08-22-10 PM - How to Be Secure Through Suffering: Know That You Are Saved

1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To God's elect, strangers in the world, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, 2 who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance. - 1Peter 1:1-12

You are chosen of God. (1-2)

Where we live does not matter. We may be poor and suffer hardship but it is only for a season.

We should keep our eyes focused on eternity.

For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come. - Heb. 13:14

We are aliens and strangers in your sight, as were all our forefathers. Our days on earth are like a shadow, without hope. - 1 Chron. 29:15
The foreknowledge of God has two meanings; one is simply Him having a panoramic view of past, present, and future.

Acts 2:23 This man was handed over to you by God's set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men, put him to death by nailing him to the cross.

He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake.
Verse two says that we are also Sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

Two things are necessary for salvation:

a. Sanctified by the Spirit – to be made holy, righteous, and pure before God.

Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. - 2 Cor. 7:1

b. Sprinkled or covered by the blood of Jesus.
How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God! - Heb. 9:14

The blood symbolizes the cleansing of our sin, obedience to God, and covenant relationship which gives us access to His promises.

"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. - Matthew 7:21

For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. - Romans 10:3

These opening two verses close with grace and peace be yours in abundance.

Grace is the undeserved favor and blessings of God.

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. - 2 Cor. 8:9

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; - Eph. 1:7

Peace means to be bound, joined, and weaved together. It means to be assured, confident, and secure in the love and care of God.

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. - John 14:27

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: - Romans 5:1

TRANSFORMATIONAL WARFARE
Romans 8:28-29

1. God’s Highest Purpose
But Jesus said the foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head. Matt. 8:20

Jesus was never concerned with His comfort but was always concerned about His obedience in following the Father.

Matthew 26:39
"My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as Thou wilt."
The purpose of all aspects of spirituality is to bring us into the image of Christ in its fullness.

Eph. 4:13
until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.

If we really want victory in life we should reach toward His ultimate goal of transformation into the image of Christ.

Luke 11:36
"If therefore your whole body is full of light, with no dark part in it, it shall be wholly illumined, as when the lamp illumines you with its rays."

Satan cannot defeat you. But your openness to him will.

2. Christ-likeness Not Warfare

The Father is more concerned with the coming forth of His Son than He is in defeating Satan.

Your enemy loves to come against you and cause your focus to be on everything but Christ likeness.

2 Kings 6:16
1 John 4:4.

3. The God of Peace will Crush Satan.

Spiritual authority is not forcing your self upon someone, but rather establishing the peace of God in the arenas that were once filled with conflict and oppression.

Romans 16:20
And the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.

We will never know Christ’s victory in its fullness until we stop reacting humanly to our circumstances.

Matthew 8:23-27 Jesus was a sleep in the boat during a storm…"Why are you timid, you men of little faith?" Then He arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and it became perfectly calm.
27 And the men marveled, saying, "What kind of a man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?"

Peace is Spirit Power.

Phil. 1:28 …in no way alarmed by your opponents—which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and that too, from God.

4. Rest Before Rule

Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for Thou art with me…

Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.”

Rev. 4:6

Jude 1:24
Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy,

The Psalmist said Psalm 110:1-2
The LORD says to my Lord: "Sit at My right hand, Until I make Thine enemies a footstool for Thy feet." 2 The LORD will stretch forth Thy strong scepter from Zion, saying, "Rule in the midst of Thine enemies."

James 3:13-18
13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.
14 But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth.
15 Such "wisdom" does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil.
16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.
17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.
18 Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.

1. The first source of strongholds:
THE WORLD
Matthew 10:39
"Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me;
38 and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

We may be physically here on earth but we are seated with Christ in heavenly places. Eph. 2:6

2 Cor. 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

2. The second source of strongholds:
OUR EXPERIENCES

In the combined meaning of all that Jesus taught we find the reality of the Kingdom of God.

Romans 3:3-4
What if some did not have faith? Will their lack of faith nullify God's faithfulness?
4 Not at all! Let God be true, and every man a liar. As it is written: "So that you may be proved right when you speak and prevail when you judge."

3. The third source of strongholds:
WRONG DOCTRINES

Matthew 24:4… "Watch out that no one deceives you.

Luke 6:40  A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.

John 8:41 You are doing the things your own father does." "We are not illegitimate children," they protested. "The only Father we have is God himself

Discernment – The ability to perceive the nature and origin of a matter.

Any doctrine that does not lead to a closer walk with Jesus Christ and His love, holiness or power should be questioned.

Every battle we face in life is over the Word and whether or not we can build our lives upon the faithfulness and integrity of God.

Luke 8:15
"But the seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit with perseverance.
1 Thess 5:21
But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;

Victory begins with the name of Jesus on our lips. And is consummated by His nature in our hearts.

UNVEILING STRONGHOLDS
2 Cor. 10:3-5
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh,
4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.
5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.

Victory begins with Jesus on your lips but will not be consummated until we have the nature of Jesus in our heart.

in Eph. 4:13 when he gave the five fold gifts to the body of Christ.
until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.

WHAT IS A STRONGHOLD?
stronghold was a fortified dwelling used as a means of protection from an enemy.

A stronghold can  be a place where we are protected from the enemy as in Psalm 18:2
The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

So any thinking that exalts itself above the knowledge of God is enabling the enemy a secure place to influence your thought life.

Any area of our life that is not surrendered to Jesus Christ is an area vulnerable to satanic attack.

John 14:30 "I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me;
Heb. 4:15  For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.

REPENTANCE PRECEEDS DELIVERANCE
Mk. 6:12-13
And they went out and preached that men should repent.
13 And they were casting out many demons and were anointing with oil many sick people and healing them.

A HOUSE MADE OF THOUGHTS

Luke 11:21-22
 "When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own homestead, his possessions are undisturbed;
22 but when someone stronger than he attacks him and overpowers him, he takes away from him all his armor on which he had relied, and distributes his plunder.

TAKE EVERY THOUGHT CAPTIVE TO CHRIST
There are several common strongholds that the enemy loves to use such as:
Unbelief
Cold love
Fear
Pride
Unforgiveness
Lust
Greed or a combination of these or several others.
Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinks within himself, so he is…
It is important for all of us to understand who we are and what our Father wants us to be.
Eph. 4:22-24
that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit,
23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
24 and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

He wants us to believe like Him just as much as He wants us to believe in Him.

“I’ll always be a failure.”
“I’m just a sinner.”
I tried the church thing and I just can’t do it”

you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.

you are a child of God and the blood of Christ cleanses me of all unrighteousness.
“There is no fear in love… love casts out fear”
1 John 4:18

“Victory begins with the name of Jesus on our lips; but it will not be consummated until the nature of Jesus is in our hearts.”

The weapons of your warfare are mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.

Ruth 4:18-22
Commitment #1 - I will love you regardless of what we face – 4:1-10.
Song: If you can’t be with the one you love; love the one you’re with.
Regardless of our past.

Regardless of the people we meet.

[1] Those that ignore us,
[2] those that hurt us,
[3] those that hinder us, and
[4] those that help us.
Regardless of the problems we face.

[1] Communication problems - you will be misunderstood. [2] Expectation problems - you will disappoint each other. [3] Financial problems – you may struggles to pay the bills and find monetary security. [4] Moral problems – you will stumble and make mistakes. [5] Health problems - eventually your health will fade and we will all die.
Commitment #2 I will walk with God personally and be an example of faith to my family –4:11-12.
He confessed God boldly - Deut. 6:4-6 He taught his faith regularly - Deut. 6:7
He lived his faith openly - Deut. 6:8-9

Commitment #3 - I will edify and encourage you to become your God-given best – 4:13.
She came to Bethlehem as "a foreigner" - 2:10.
She labored as the "lowest servant" - 2:13.
She was treated as a "maidservant" – 3:9.
She became Boaz’ "wife" - 4:13.

Commitment #4 - I will restore you 4:14-17.

This commitment makes four statements: I will hold you accountable.
I will forgive you.
I will guard your name.
I will restore you.

What kind of heritage are you leaving behind?
Be a Boaz or be a Ruth.

REMOVING STRONGHOLDS
 2 Cor. 10:3-5
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh,
4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.
5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,

1. Use wisdom.

European Proverb: “Age and treachery will always defeat youth and zeal”

Many believers attempt warfare with idealism and untested fervor.

Matt. 10:16
"Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves.

So we must live by faith but think with wisdom.

2. Don’t try short cuts.

Acts 19:11-17
God was performing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul,
12 so that handkerchiefs or aprons were even carried from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out.
13 But also some of the Jewish exorcists, who went from place to place, attempted to name over those who had the evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, "I adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches."
14 Seven sons of one Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this.
15 And the evil spirit answered and said to them, "I recognize Jesus, and I know about Paul, but who are you?"
16 And the man, in whom was the evil spirit, leaped on them and subdued all of them and overpowered them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
17 This became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who lived in Ephesus; and fear fell upon them all and the name of the Lord Jesus was being magnified.

Proverbs 20:18 Prepare plans by consultation, and make war by wise guidance.
Spiritual warfare is meant to be a way of life not merely a teaching to use on occasion.

Ecc. 9:14-17
There was a small city with few men in it and a great king came to it, surrounded it and constructed large siege works against it.
15 But there was found in it a poor wise man and he delivered the city by his wisdom. Yet no one remembered that poor man.
16 So I said, "Wisdom is better than strength." But the wisdom of the poor man is despised and his words are not heeded.
17 The words of the wise heard in quietness are better than the shouting of a ruler among fools.
18 Wisdom is better than weapons of war

The mind.

Col.1:13
For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,

Luke 11:35
Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.

Luke 22:31-32 31 "Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat.
32 But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers."

Prov. 16:18 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.

The areas we hide in darkness are the very areas of our future defeat.

James 4:6-7
But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."[3]
7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

The greatest defense you can have against the devil is to maintain an honest heart before God.

Victory begins with Jesus on your lips but will not be consummated until you have the nature of Jesus in your heart.
