The Praying Heart
The heart that prays soars high on strong, glad wings,
And finds strange rest beyond the strife of things;
The heart that prays in trusting self-surrender
Finds Christ’s own peace and life’s eternal splendor.
Through prayer God breathes His secret to the heart;
Speak to Him often in the busy mart, Or call Him in the deep of sorrow’s night;
His love floods in with healing, guiding light.

Five Things We Must Keep in Focus:

1. We’re HEADING toward the harvest

We have a GOD shaped vacuum

John 4:35-36, Do you think the work of harvesting will not begin until the summer ends four months from now? Look around you! Vast fields are ripening all around us and are ready now for the harvest. The harvesters are paid good wages, and the fruit they harvest is people brought to eternal life. What joy awaits both the planter and the harvester alike!
Five Things We Must Keep in Focus:

Exalt
Edify
Evangelize

2.We’re GATHERING like MINDED people

Galatians 6:9 “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

Matthew 9:37 The harvest is so great, but the workers are so few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask Him to send out more workers for His fields.

3. We’re SHARING words of GRACE

1. You’ll never meet anyone who is not the object of God’s LOVE and CONCERN
2. You’ll never meet anyone who does not NEED what you HAVE in Christ Jesus

“The Presence of God’s People guarantees the presence of God.”

4. We’re FIGHTING a SPIRITUAL battle
Ephesians 6:12-13
1 Peter 5:8-9

5. We’re BEING LED by God’s SPIRIT
Romans 8:14
Proverbs 3:6

1. How do we know there is a God?

Three Major Areas

Cause and Effect (Genesis 1:1)

• Self existing - vs. - created
• In order to believe matter is uncaused, one has to discard known laws and principles of Science.

Design of the universe (Romans 1:20)
Moral nature

2. How has God made Himself known?

• General revelation
• Special revelation

3. How can I get to know God?

• His Word - Matthew 22:29
  
• His Son - Hebrews 1:1-3
• His Spirit - I Corinthians 2:10

John 4:23-24, “The time is coming and is already here when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The father is looking for anyone who will worship Him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.”

THREE REASONS WHY WE ARE HERE TODAY:

1. We are to worchip.
How do we worship? In spirit and in truth.
Spirit - Because He is spirit and He is not confined to this building.
Truth - Because when we connect with the Spirit of God we understand that He is truth.

2. We are here to give.
John Maxwell, “it takes team work to make the dream work.”
Time - one of life’s greatest commodities. (Psalms 90:12)
Treasure - (Romans 12:6-7) (Matthew 6:20-21)

3. We are here to grow.

At CLC, we use the three E’s to clarify what we’re about:

Exalt Jesus Christ
Edify One Another
Evangelize the Lost

Our motto is “A ministry to the entire family.”

There are two ways we must grow as a church:
1. Spiritually
2. Numerically

Apathy is the greatest church killer of all times.
